Q. Who is Ansonia and what is its history?
A. Ansonia Credit Data is a leading commercial credit information reporting company dedicated to providing customers with the most affordable and accurate business credit reports available so they can make the best decisions possible. Ansonia was founded in 2006 by a business owner tired of spending hard-earned dollars on outdated financial statements, reports about well-maintained buildings on Main Street and other irrelevant data supplied by conventional vendors. Founder Anthony Kinninger’s vision was to provide large and small companies with a premier, low-cost alternative by leveraging his four decades of experience as owner of a successful asset-based lending company.

Q. Why should I choose Ansonia over other providers?
A. Ansonia Credit Data provides customers with the information they need at the lowest prices in the business. With no set-up or annual fees, and no long-term contracts, our reports feature real-time access to a global database on companies of every size and industry, receiving more than a half billion dollars daily in new accounts receivable activity. Ansonia relies on the fastest and most flexible technology available for processing millions of company locations daily. Add to this the fact that we update more account activities daily — nearly 25 million — than the competition, and you might see why our lists are unrivaled for accuracy and freshness. Ansonia’s consulting staff members bring a combined 100-plus years in commercial credit and collection experience, and are widely known for providing responsive and knowledgeable service.

Q. What about the "unlimited" account I already have with another provider? Won’t I pay more with Ansonia?
A. At Ansonia Credit Data, we believe that by signing long-term, "unlimited" contracts with the old-school providers, businesses can paint themselves into a corner for years by paying sky-high prices — of hundreds, often thousands of dollars — and settling for unfavorable, one-sided conditions. We recommend that you try supplementing your credit report needs with Ansonia, where we’ll never impose set-up or annual fees, or lock you into contracts. With Ansonia, you pay only for the information you need, when you need it. And, consider this: When the provider of your three-year contract approaches you at renewal time, you’ll be in the driver’s seat and can negotiate the price down — not up. We’re so confident in our ability to favorably impress you with our products and customer service that we believe you’ll choose to switch from your current provider to the industry’s number-one alternative choice for the freshest and most affordable credit intelligence available.

Q. What is so special about Ansonia’s technology platform?
A. Ansonia Credit Data’s advanced technology and data analysis capabilities allow for superior validation and matching of data, resulting in some of the most accurate credit data reporting in the business. Each data file received is subjected to a battery of automated validation tests — involving comparing current and older data, flagging large changes in total accounts receivable and more. This is complemented by manual checks on critical data points to ensure correct matching and hygiene. The bottom line is where many of our competitors accept information inaccuracies and data matching failures, Ansonia catches and corrects them. If that weren’t enough, we scrub and verify data continuously, 24/7, to ensure fast, real-time delivery of the information you count on for your company’s critical decisions.

Q. Why should I care about how others rate my business?
A. Businesses view other companies’ credit scores as a leading indicator of their basic credit-worthiness. Credit scores are an important evaluation tool used to help determine whether to engage in business with a particular company. Your proven record of making payments on time also can result in significantly increased customer contacts. Most important, how you pay your bills significantly determines whether your company receives credit — or not.

Q. Where does Ansonia gather its data?
A. A wide variety of domestic and international companies share their current accounts receivable activity with Ansonia Credit Data on a regular basis. This is updated continuously in a database consisting of millions of debtors.

Q. How is your data compiled?
A. Companies submit their trade payment experiences to Ansonia Credit Data on a monthly basis, and banks and factors also submit payment history on their debtors. Contributors typically accomplish this by using an existing file export feature in a customer’s billing software, and automatically and conveniently transmitting the file to Ansonia using email, auto upload or FTP. Once the file export is established, no further action is required on the part of the contributor.

Q. What information does your database contain on businesses?
A. Ansonia Credit Data’s database houses a wide variety of information, including: names; addresses; phone numbers; credit terms; average days to pay; and current accounts receivable aging by month.

Q. How is my credit risk score calculated?
A. Using sophisticated mathematical models, Ansonia Credit Data’s risk score takes into account various factors in each of these five areas: payment history; current level of indebtedness; current level of delinquencies; and length of credit history. Factors such as these are regarded as statistically sound predictors of ability to pay.

Q. How can I understand my credit rating?
A. By way of example, a credit rating of 12K32 would mean that your company shows an average balance of $12,000 and pays your bills in an average of 32 days. This easy way to determine if your company has experience with open credit also shows when creditors can expect your company to pay. Rather than spend time creating your own rating matrix, our simple rating system tells you everything you need to know, when you need to know it.

Q. How do you handle the confidentiality of our customer data?
A. Ansonia Credit Data recognizes its responsibility to protect the privacy of members and safeguard their information. When your company contributes credit data about potential and existing customers, you do so anonymously. Ansonia does not disclose your identity or any other provided information with unauthorized individuals, companies or other third parties.

Q. How can I challenge a payment experience reported on my company’s credit report?
A. Ansonia Credit Data wants your credit report to be an accurate reflection of your payment history. If you believe any item of information is inaccurate, please submit your request in writing to bplaza@ansoniacreditdata.com. We allow the contributor 10 business days to re-verify the information being reported. If the creditor cannot do so, Ansonia will remove that payment experience from your report. We also request a name release so we can inform you of who has reported the disputed payment experience.
